Itinerary
Day 1— Meet, greet and transfer to hotel. Visit Santiago including the Palacio de la Moneda, House of Government and the Plaza de Armas. Continue to the Parque Forestal, the Fine Arts Museum, and the bohemian area of Bellavista before climbing the San Cristobal hill to enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
Day 2—Day at leisure for optional tours.
Day 3—Morning at leisure. Departure hotel to airport transfer.
OPTIONAL TOURS:
Excursion to Viña Concha y Toro—Drive to the Maipo Valley and the village of Pirage, famous for its production of red wine. The winery was founded in 1883 and is the largest exporter of Chilean wine. The tour includes a visit to the gardens, the cellars and the plants, some of which were planted by the original owner, Don Meichor Concha y Toro. Duration: 6 hours. Operates: Monday-Saturday.
Culinary Tour—Visit one of the typical markets and taste native fruits, purchase fresh bread and the spices for today’s lunch. Return to the restored 1920’s loft, where the host prepares a delicious 3 course gourmet lunch. Duration: 5 hours. Operates Tuesday to Sunday. Note: requires a min. of 4 people.
Excursion to Isla Negra—Isla Negra holds some of Pablo Neruda’s prolific collections of bottles, masks and figureheads from ships prows and other objects. The house is notable for the attractive setting and interesting architecture, made from low cost materials. Duration: 8 hours.
Colchagua Valley—The tour includes a tasting and lunch. Following lunch, another winery can be visited or the Colchagua Museum which houses one of the most important collections of prehispanic art in Chile and a significant display of artifacts from the Chilean colonial period. Duration: 10 hours.
Viña del Mar & Valparaiso—Visit the town Viña del Mar with its pretty parks and floral ornaments. Continue to the picturesque port of Valparaiso, founded in the XVI century. The oldest part of town was recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2003. Optional visit to the Museum House of Pablo Neruda, La Sebastiana, before returning to Santiago. Duration: 8 hours. Note: Museum closed on Mondays & holidays.
Valle Nevado—Valle Nevado is the most modern ski resort in South America. Its pistes are of international standard and there is an efficient and modern network of lifts. The resort has an excellent ski school with more that 70 bilingual instructors. There are hotels, apartments, restaurants, three bars, a disco, gym, shops, spa and a heated pool. Duration: 8 hours. Available: June to October (depending on weather).
