Francisco de Orellana, a Spanish conquistador, discovered this great river for Europeans in the 16th century and gave the river the name when he was attacked by native women warriors who reminded him of the Amazon warriors, a tribe of women warriors. The word “Amazon” or “amaná” means “rain” from the language of the Tupi-Guarani tribe. A majestic tropical rain forest like a giant cloak covers the Amazon lowland.

Day 1: Scenic Arrival & Anavilhanas Night Excursion Arrival & Transfer: Met at Manaus Airport by your English-speaking guide and transferred via private air-conditioned vehicle to the pier.
