Day 1: Sunday – Taormina area Arrive at Catania Airport. After collecting your luggage, take a shared group transfer to your hotel. There are no planned activities for today. You will find all detailed program information waiting for you at the hotel front desk. Enjoy dinner at the hotel before your overnight stay.
Day 2: Monday – Mount Etna & Taormina Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing with your tour escort to Mount Etna, Sicily’s highest peak and Europe’s most active volcano. The territory surrounding the volcano forms the “Park of Etna,” one of the largest protected areas in Italy, offering a remarkable variety of vegetation and volcanic landscapes as you ascend to the Silvestri Craters (approx. 1,900 meters). From here, you may join an optional jeep and cableway excursion (extra cost). After sampling local Sicilian specialties, return to the hotel. In the afternoon, explore Taormina at your leisure. Take a walking tour through the medieval center to learn about Sicilian history, pass by the 15th-century Palazzo Corvaja, and visit the iconic Greek Theatre—the second largest classical theatre in Sicily (admission fee not included). Alternatively, you can book an open-top red line hop-on hop-off bus tour, featuring pre-recorded multilingual commentary as it loops through Taormina, Giardini Naxos, Isola Bella, and Letojanni. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Tuesday – Syracuse After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Syracuse, one of the island’s premier archaeological destinations. Explore the Archaeological Park (extra cost) to discover the ancient Roman Amphitheatre, the Greek Theatre, the Ear of Dionysus, and the Cave of the Cordari. Continue to the historic island of Ortigia, the ancient core of Syracuse, to admire its stunning cathedral and seaside alleys. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Wednesday – Coastal boat tour (optional) & The Godfather tour Following breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a free morning to relax, explore, or swim at the beach. You can also join an optional “Taormina coast to coast” boat tour. Departing from the port of Giardini Naxos (hotel transfer available upon request for a supplement), this excursion takes a small group (max 12 guests) along the Ionian Coast to admire Mount Etna from the water, view dramatic rock formations, explore the Nature Reserve of Isola Bella, and visit the famous Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra, subject to weather conditions). In the afternoon, head out on an included excursion to the hilltop village of Savoca, named one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Tour the historic catacombs at the Convent of the Capuchins and visit the iconic filming locations from Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 classic, The Godfather. Stop by Bar Vitelli, where Michael Corleone asked for Apollonia’s hand in marriage, and visit the Church of San Nicolò, site of their famous wedding scene. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Thursday – Departure or extended stay Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checkout at 10:00 AM. Board an optional shared group transfer back to Catania Airport for your departure flight. Arrivederci! (Guests extending their stay may transition to an additional week of hotel relaxation).
