  Day 1: Arrive at Florence or Pisa airport, pick up your rental car, and drive to Florence. Start your visit at Santa Croce, the Franciscan church that serves as the burial site for figures like Michelangelo and Galileo. Walk to Piazza della Signoria to see Palazzo Vecchio and the replica of Michelangelo’s David. Visit the Uffizi Gallery or walk through the city center to Piazza della Repubblica. Drive to Montecatini Terme for your overnight stay.

  Day 2: After breakfast, drive through the Chianti wine region toward San Gimignano. See its medieval towers, the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, Palazzo del Popolo, and Piazza della Cisterna. Continue to Siena to see its Gothic brick architecture, narrow streets, Palazzo Pubblico, Torre del Mangia, and Piazza del Campo. Return to Montecatini Terme for overnight.

  Day 3: Drive to Pisa to visit the Square of Miracles, including the Leaning Tower, Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, Baptistery, and Campo Santo. Drive to Lucca to see its intact city walls, Guinigi Tower, Clock Tower, Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, and the Church of San Michele on the ancient Roman forum site. Return to Montecatini Terme for overnight.

  Day 4: Drive east into Umbria to Passignano sul Trasimeno on Lake Trasimeno to see its medieval fortress and walls. Proceed to Perugia to visit its Etruscan walls, Palazzo dei Priori, Cathedral, and Fontana Maggiore. Continue to Assisi to see the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, Basilica of Santa Chiara, Temple of Minerva, and the Basilica of Saint Francis. Drive south to Rome for your overnight stay.

  Day 5: Visit the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica to see works like Michelangelo’s Pietà and Bernini’s baldachin. Step outside into St. Peter’s Square. Spend the afternoon exploring Rome independently before returning to your hotel for overnight.

  Day 6: Tour ancient Rome, starting inside the Colosseum, followed by Palatine Hill and the Roman Forum. In the afternoon, visit sites such as the Mouth of Truth, Circus Maximus, Baths of Caracalla, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Piazza del Popolo, Villa Borghese, and Castel Sant’Angelo. Overnight in Rome.

  Day 7: Drive south toward the Sorrento area. Stop in Caserta to tour the 18th-century Royal Palace of Caserta and its grounds. Continue driving to the Sorrento area for your overnight stay.

  Day 8: Drive along the Amalfi Coast road to visit Positano, stopping at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Continue to Amalfi to see the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea. Finish in Ravello to visit Piazza Vescovado and Villa Rufolo before returning to Sorrento for overnight.

  Day 9: Choose between two day trips. Option one: take a boat tour across the Bay of Naples to Capri, viewing coastal grottoes and the Faraglioni rocks, with free time at Marina Grande. Option two: drive to Pompeii to walk the ancient Roman streets, forum, baths, and villas preserved by Mount Vesuvius. Overnight in the Sorrento area.

  Day 10: Breakfast at hotel Check out and departure.
