Meet our driver at the reception of your centrally located hotel at 07.30 am, and depart for a relaxing 3 hours journey in a comfortable vehicle toward Pompeii. We drive directly from Rome to Pompeii to avoid the crowds and have a memorable visit inside Pompeii ruins. Arriving Pompei meet our expert guide and start to visit this unique gem which is one of the most visited Unesco World Heritage Site in Italy. Our local guide will talk about the history and the secrets of Pompeii which was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 a.C. This archaeological journey through the ancient city will give you the opportunity to understand Roman life at that time. The city was buried under layers of ashes and pumice, 4 to 6 m. the city. This preserved details of everyday life. Among the well preserved frescoes, houses, villas and baths it is possible to see the intact remains of people, domestic animals and food. These remains allow you to understand the final agony and the panic felt by the people in those last few minutes before the city was so disastrously buried. The city remained hidden for almost 1700 years until 1748 when the site was discovered during some excavations. If possible the tour will also visit an ancient brothel.
The visit in Pompeii will end at 12.30 pm, continue on with one of the most unforgettable drives of your life. Travel down the hairpin turns and panoramic vistas of the Amalfi coast. It will not take long for you to see why this is considered Italy’s most scenic drive. After 1 hour drive you will arrive in Positano. If you are a food lover, you can have a enjoy on your own a lunch experience tasting some great local food with a relaxing scenic view of the wonderful coast. The best way to see and enjoy Positano is to stroll around its narrow alleys where delightful white and pastel-coloured houses litter the hillside. Along with the beautiful beaches, its ancient fishing port, the splendid majolica dome of the church of Santa Maria Assunta and artisan shops you will a taste of the “Dolce Vita”.
After Positano, we drive to the last stop of this unforgettable day, Amalfi. The town of Amalfi, enjoyed a prestigious past when it was once a major naval power. Made of a labyrinth of narrow lanes and alleyways that climb the surrounding hills, the town features typical mediterranean style architecture with houses piled one on top of the other. Do not forget that the icon of Amalfi is its famous limoncello, so do not miss the chance to join an optional 45 minutes Lemon Private Tour & Limoncello Tasting Experience along the hills of the village. After visiting Amalfi, at 05.30 pm we will start our journey back to Rome. Arrive at your accommodation in Rome at approximately 08.30 pm.
