Your day begins at 07:30 AM with a comfortable departure directly from your hotel in Rome. By traveling early and driving straight to Pompeii, we bypass the midday crowds, ensuring your experience of this world-renowned archaeological gem is as immersive and memorable as possible. Upon arrival, you will be met by an expert local guide who will lead you through the streets of a city frozen in time.
Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage site unlike any other. As you walk its ancient Roman thoroughfares, your guide will reveal the secrets of the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. You will discover how the layers of ash and pumice—reaching depths of six meters—served to both destroy and miraculously preserve the intimate details of Roman daily life. From beautifully intact frescoes and grand villas to the haunting remains of the people and animals caught in the city’s final moments, the site offers a profound look at the panic and transition of that fateful day. After nearly 1,700 years of being hidden from the world, the city’s rediscovery has allowed us to step back into the first century, visiting homes, thermal baths, and—when possible—an ancient Roman brothel.
At 01:00 PM, you will rejoin your driver for a short, 30-minute journey into the vibrant heart of Naples. As the birthplace of pizza, Naples is the ultimate destination for a culinary lunch break. We highly recommend taking this time to sample authentic Neapolitan street food or a traditional wood-fired pizza. Following lunch, you will have two hours of free time to soak in the city’s unique atmosphere, where a fascinating mix of cultures is reflected in the local architecture. You might choose to wander the famous market of San Gregorio Armeno or explore the mysterious “Napoli Sotterranea” (Underground Naples).
For those who prefer a structured exploration of the city’s history, an optional 1.5-hour walking tour with a local guide is available. This itinerary showcases the monumental area of Naples, including the medieval Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) and the San Carlo Theatre—one of the world’s finest examples of neoclassical architecture. You can also admire the elegant “Liberty-style” Galleria Umberto I or stroll through the grand Piazza del Plebiscito. After a full day of discovery and perhaps a little local shopping, we begin our return journey at 04:30 PM, arriving back at your Rome accommodation by approximately 07:30 PM with memories that will last a lifetime.
Note on Flexibility: While all promised inclusions are guaranteed, the order of the sites visited may change based on local conditions to ensure the best possible experience for our guests. Lunch is not included, allowing you the freedom to choose your own Neapolitan dining experience.
