Your journey begins as you depart the urban energy of Milan, traveling in comfort toward the dramatic coastline of Liguria. Our destination is La Spezia, the gateway to one of the most breathtaking landscapes on earth: the Cinque Terre. This UNESCO World Heritage site is comprised of five centuries-old fishing villages perched precariously on rugged cliffs. Here, vibrant houses in shades of terracotta and gold overlook a sparkling turquoise sea, while steep terraces draped in ancient vineyards rise toward the sky. It is a place where time seems to have paused, where narrow lanes lead to hidden trattorias and harbors are still filled with traditional fishing boats.
Our exploration of the “Five Lands” begins in Riomaggiore. Dating back to the 13th century, this village is renowned for its historic character and its unique “tower houses” that seem to lean against one another for support along steep stone paths. From there, we move to Manarola, the smallest and perhaps most photographed of the five villages, offering a serene glimpse into the quiet charm of coastal life.
The journey continues to Monterosso, often called the “Pearl of the Five Lands.” This ancient village is embraced by lush Mediterranean vegetation and boasts the largest beach in the region. You will have free time here to take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters or simply bask in the sun before we board the train for our final stop: Vernazza. Characterized by its picturesque natural harbor and iconic colorful facades, Vernazza captures the true essence of the Italian Riviera.
To ensure you experience the best of the coast without the stress of traffic, we utilize the local commuter train—the most efficient and authentic way to navigate the rugged terrain between villages. While we tailor each day to the local weather and tourist flow to ensure the most comfortable experience, we prioritize the highlights of the region to guarantee you an unforgettable visit to these coastal gems before returning to Milan in the evening.
Note: Our itinerary is designed to be flexible. Depending on weather conditions and local crowds, we always prioritize visits to the most iconic villages, such as Monterosso or Vernazza, to ensure your day is as seamless as it is beautiful.
