Located in Eastern Central France, Burgundy is a wine region famed for its eponymous wines as well as Pinot noirs, Chardonnay, Chablis and Beaujolais, making it a great location for vinophiles who enjoy a wide variety of tipples. While you’re there you must also try the region’s renowned blackcurrant liqueur, crème de cassis! But it’s not all about the alcohol, as the area also boasts a plethora of antiquated villages to transport you back to Middle Ages and the Renaissance, with the timber-framed buildings of Troyes being a prime example of the area’s historic splendour. Follow up your visit to Burgundy by hopping over into the UNESCO certified Champagne region, the famous home of the world’s favourite and sparkling wine. Full to the brim with bountiful vineyards and exclusive maisons such as the prestigious Taittinger champagne house, it’s the ideal destination for those seeking to experience the French wine industry at its finest and most luxurious.

    Day 1:  Arrival
    Independent arrival in Beaune. Check into your hotel balance of day at leisure. Overnight in Beaune.

    Day 2: Burgundy – Cote De Beaune
    Today explore the majestic Côte de Beaune. Walk to the sacred alleys of the Historic Monument to admire this impressive architecture. Conquer the winding roads of Beaune while you walk towards a prestigious “Maison”, in the very heart of the city. Discover the colossal wine cellars where Burgundy’s greatest elixirs are carefully conserved.  Enjoy a convivial lunch consisting in local specialities in an authentic country house, perched on the hillside and looking onto one of Burgundy’s greatest panorama. Vines as far as your eyes can see!  Back on the road, en route stop to visit and taste wine and cheese in a lovely family-run winery where you will feel the intimacy of a private, independent domain and fully understand how the world-recognized Reds and Whites go from grape to bottle. Enjoy a unique commented tasting of the domain’s production.  Return to Beaune and enjoy the rest of the day. Overnight in Beaune.

    Day 3:  Burgundy – Cote De Nuits
    Today explore the enchanting Côte de Nuits, a winegrowing area that extends from Marsannay-la-Côte, just south of Dijon, to Corgoloin, a few kilometres north of Beaune. It’s only 30km, but with so many charming villages, vineyards and other attractions along the way, You will visit Fixin, with its distinctive polychrome bell tower; Chambolle-Musigny, a lovely and picturesque town and a beautiful spot to provision your afternoon picnic overlooking the Clos de Vougeot; Gevrey-Chambertin, where every doorway seems to defend its own winery. Finally, arrive at Nuits-St-Georges, the Côte de Nuits’ most significant town, where you’ll find excellent restaurants and museums focused on the region’s wine-making tradition. Do not forget tasting the famous blackcurrant liqueur, crème de cassis.  Overnight in Beaune.

    Day 4: Troyes & Reims
    Transfer from Beaune to Reims with an en-route stop in Troyes for an independent visit.  There are many cities in France and Navarre that still boast high-quality wooden buildings. Yet it is Troyes that arguably has the most extensive, uniform, and best-preserved or restored heritage. Having almost disappeared entirely, this incredible collection of timber-framed houses from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance is now the pride of all Troyes. With their picturesque style and multi-coloured appearance, these buildings tell the story of an ever-changing city – a story that is far from complete. Arrive in Reims late afternoon and check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Reims.

    Day 5: Morning Champagne Tasting Class &  Afternoon  Epernay

    Today you will discover the magnificence of Reims, the coronation city. Learn about “Notre Dame de Reims”, one of the first site listed as Unesco World Heritage. Understand the historical atmosphere of the city, home of the coronation of more than 25 kings of France…  Later visit the Champagne House Taittinger. Make the most of your Champagne excursion by exploring the underground cellars of the prestigious Champagne House Taittinger and savouring a lovely morning glass.  In the afternoon, motor north till the vineyards of the elegant Montagne de Reims while your guide points out the particularities and peculiarities of the region: why are our vines planted on steep slopes? Why is our subsoil made out of such pure chalk? Continue your tour by discovering a family-run boutique winery. Tour the traditional press and vat room as your guide details the conventional “Champagne method” called “Méthode Champenoise”. Appreciate several tastings of their personal production and acquire further knowledge and expertise on the most beautiful sparkling wine!   Overnight in Reims.

    Day 6 Departure
    After breakfast independent transfer to rail station. ***end of services***
