Day 9: Oaxaca to Mérida: The White City Domestic Flight • Mérida Historic Center. Today, leave the mountains of Oaxaca and travel to Mérida, the elegant capital of Yucatán, known as La Ciudad Blanca — The White City. A private transfer will take you from your hotel to Oaxaca Airport for your domestic flight to Mérida. Approximately 1 ½ hour. Upon arrival, another private transfer will meet you and take you to your Mérida hotel. After checking in and refreshing, join a guided walking tour through Mérida’s historic center. 2.5 to 3 hours. Discover the majestic Cathedral of San Ildefonso, one of the oldest cathedrals in the Americas, and stroll through the colonial streets surrounding the Zócalo. A private driver will collect you from your Mérida hotel and take you to Chichén Itzá, where you’ll join a shared guided tour of this legendary archaeological site and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the magnificent Temple of Kukulkán, the Great Ball Court, and other important structures while learning about the history, beliefs, and achievements of the ancient Maya.
