Day 1: Arrival in San José Upon arrival at Juan Santamaría International Airport, you will meet your local representative for a private transfer to your hotel. Settle in and enjoy a relaxing evening. Overnight at Hotel Palma Real.
Day 2: San José to Turrialba Volcano via Irazú Volcano & Lankester Gardens Journey south along the Panamerican Highway up the winding flanks of Irazú Volcano for sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. Descend into historic Cartago to visit the sacred Virgin of the Angels Basilica, followed by a guided walk through Lankester Botanical Gardens to view hundreds of orchid and bromeliad species. Continue into the scenic Orosi Valley to visit a colonial church and enjoy a traditional lunch before heading to your lodge. Overnight at Hotel Guayabo Lodge. (Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 3: Turrialba Volcano & Guayabo Archaeological Site Discover aqueducts, and structures of this vanished civilization. Return to the lodge for an evening at leisure. Overnight at Hotel Guayabo Lodge. (Meals Included: Breakfast)
Day 4: Turrialba Volcano to Tortuguero National Park Depart early toward the Caribbean lowlands, stopping for breakfast and a stroll through a tropical butterfly garden along the way. Drive past banana plantations to the dock at Caño Blanco, then board a covered river boat to navigate the jungle waterways of Tortuguero. After checking in and having lunch, visit the local Caribbean Conservation Corporation Turtle Museum and the colorful village of Tortuguero. Overnight at Mawamba Lodge or similar. Day 5: Tortuguero National Park Boat Safaris Embark on an early morning boat safari to witness the rainforest wake up, observing caimans, monkeys, toucans, and river otters along the narrow canals. Day 6: Tortuguero National Park to South Caribbean Coast
Depart Tortuguero by boat and private vehicle, traveling down the scenic coastline to the laid-back beach region of Puerto Viejo. Check into your tropical hotel and spend the afternoon unwinding near the turquoise waters. Overnight at Hotel Cariblue. (Meals Included: Breakfast)
Day 7: South Caribbean Coast & Veragua Rainforest Spend the day immersing yourself in nature at Veragua Rainforest. Soar above the canopy on the Sky Gondola, tour the world-class frog, reptile, and butterfly habitats, and walk through the research center where university scientists discover new forest species. Conclude your excursion with a scenic hike to a cascading waterfall before returning to your beach hotel. Overnight at Hotel Cariblue. (Meals Included: Breakfast)
Days 8–9: South Caribbean Coast at Leisure Enjoy two full days at leisure to explore the golden beaches, vibrant Afro-Caribbean culture, and local cuisine of Puerto Viejo, or simply relax by the beach and hotel pool. Overnight at Hotel Cariblue. (Meals Included: Breakfast)
Day 10: Departure from San José Take a comfortable ground transfer back across the Central Mountain Range directly to Juan Santamaría International Airport for your homebound flight. (Meals Included: Breakfast)
