DAY 1 SALTA— Arrival, meet & greet transfer to the hotel. Take a tour of Salta, one of the most picturesque cities in the country. Visit the most previous gems dating back to colonial times, such as the San Francisco church, the Cabildo and the San Bernardo monastery. Continue towards San Bernardo Hill with a magnificent view of the city. At evening dinner at Jose Balcarce restaurant specializing in Andean cuisine. Accommodation. Max. Altitude: 4,798 ft.
DAY 2 SALTA/CACHI/MOLINOS— Depart for a tour around the Calchaqui Valleys, a natural treasure enclosed in one of the country’s most beautiful landscapes. We will pass by Chicoana, Cuesta del Obispo, Recta del Tin and Los Cardones National Park. Arrive at Cachi at the foot of the white snow covered peak of Cachi. Visit the archaeological museum and the church of the ancient town. Visit Isasmendi winery, a cozy and familiar winery. Afterwards continue towards Molino. Arrival and accommodations at Hacienda Molinos. Dinner. Max altitude: 11,874 ft.
DAY 3 MOLINOS/CAFAYATE— Morning depart for Colome. Bodega Colomé is one the oldest wineries in Argentina. Located in the Upper Calchaqui Valley in Salta, it homes the world’s highest vineyards, sitting between 2300 and 3111 masl (7544-10205 ft). Guided tour of the winery and visit to the James Turrel Museum, which is exclusively dedicated to the work of James Turrell, one of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists. Enjoy wine tasting and a picada (Argentine version of tapas, including cold cuts, different cheeses and olives) in a beautiful veranda overlooking the vineyards. Depart towards Cafayate, driving along mountainous roads. Pass by Quebrada de las Flechas. This is a very particular rock ravine formed by 20 meter high rock walls that skirt the winding road. Cafayate is a peaceful, colonial type settlement with its vineyards that produce renowned wines. Accommodation. Dinner. Max. altitude: 8200 ft.
DAY 4 CAFAYATE— Morning visit to the winery San Pedro de Yacochuya. This was one of the first of Rolland’s consulting projects outside of France. This winery could be replaced by Finca Las Nubes. After lunch, visit El Esteco winery. Enjoy a short tour in the vineyards, visit to the winery and wine tasting. Time at leisure. We suggest taking a wine therapy treatment at Patios de Cafayate Wine Spa. Max. altitude: 6560 ft.
DAY 5 CAFAYATE/SALTA— Morning visit the town and the wine and grape museum. Lunch and departure towards Salta. The panoramic view of the valleys continues along Quebrada de las Conchas (Cafayate Gorge) with reddish sandstone walls, curious rock formations that have been masterfully carved by the erosion of wind and weather. All these formations have been baptized by locals according to their fancy shapes with names such as the Amphitheatre. The Devil’s Throat, the Obelisk and the Castles. Continue towards Salta. Max. Altitude: 6560 ft. Departure airport transfer.
