There is no better way to explore Italy than by car. The breathtaking views will captivate you as you explore the beautiful countryside of Italy’s most famous regions Umbria and Tuscany.  Indulge yourself in this 10 day vacation that will give you an authentic experience Umbria & Tuscany.  Start in Rome, a couple of days to overcome your jetlag. Retrieve rental Vehicle and head to the central Italian regions, two of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Populated with sloping hills covered with vineyards, luscious green woods, magical medieval villages, and spectacular valleys. This area of the country is famous for its long tradition in producing some of the best Italian wines, olive oils, cheeses and cured meats. Start off in the famous Chianti region, where wine is a religion, before passing through the beautiful town of Siena – home of the famous and Palio horse race. Head south reach the romantic Val d’Orcia to admire its Tuscan landscapes, dive into its woods to hunt for truffles, and then learn how Italian “Nonni” make the local “pici” pasta. Top your experience off with an indulgent visit to the Perugina chocolate factory in Perugia: the icing on the cake for this astounding adventure through central Italy.

    Day 1: Arrive in Rome meet your driver and transfer to hotel. Time to relax. Overnight Rome

    Day 2:  After breakfast, hotel pick-up and join small group tour of Vatican Museum & Sistine chapel.  Afternoon at leisure to visit Rome. Overnight Rome

    Day 3: Retrieve rental vehicle and start your journey heading towards Tuscany.  Todi Time to visit on your own and enjoy some Umbrian Cuisine for dinner.  Overnight in Todi.

    Day 4: Today we suggest visiting Todi and Spoleto. Todi is a city that stands perched on hill. You will  be fascinated by its Medieval walls that separate the new part from the old village and the various numerous views unexpectedly reveal enchanting portions of the Val Tiberina. With its millennial history, Todi shows numerous historical stratifications and preserves huge artistic heritages. Continue on to  Spoleto. It is visually stunning. Ancient arches and a virtually intact amphitheatre tell of its past as a strategic Roman colony, while a series of Romanesque churches testifies to a golden age in the early Middle Ages. In 570 the Lombards made it capital of their duchy and over the next three centuries it flourished, becoming for a brief period one of the most important towns in Italy. Overnight in Todi

    Day 5: Today travel  to Montepulciano. On the way, we suggest to visit the city of Perugia, Assisi and Trasimeno lake. Your first stop could be Assisi. It has a millennial history with Roman, Medieval and Renaissance evidences. This city gave birth to S. Francesco and S. Chiara and it has always been known as the universal center of peace and brotherhood. However, you don’t have to be religious to be struck by Assisi’s beauty and enjoy its pristine historic centre and Unesco-listed Basilica di San Francesco, home to one of Italy’s most celebrated artistic masterpieces. Continue to Perugia. it is a little jewel and its historic centre, seemingly little changed in more than 400 years, rises in a helter-skelter of cobbled alleys, arched stairways and piazzas framed by solemn churches and magnificent Gothic palazzi (mansions). Reminders of its lively and often bloody past are everywhere, from ancient arches and medieval basilicas to Renaissance frescoes by the likes of Perugino and Raphael. After the visit, drive to Montepulciano through the beautiful landscape of Trasimeno Lake.

    Day 6:
    Today we suggest to visit the city of Montepulciano and Cortona. Montepulciano is a medieval town of rare beauty highly recommended visiting in Tuscany. The city, full of elegant Renaissance palaces, ancient churches, charming squares and hidden corners, boasts vast panoramas all over the wonderful Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana valleys that surround it. You can continue to Cortona. Cortona, a lovely city between Arezzo and Lake Trasimeno. Its cyclopean walls reveal its Etruscan origins. It was one of the twelve cities of Etruria and in its vicinity, many Etruscan ruins and tombs may be seen.  Today it is one of the most enchanting hilltop towns in Tuscany, filled with amazing architecture and surrounded by idyllic landscapes with vineyards. This is where the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” was filmed and is no wonder why people suddenly felt the wish to visit Tuscany. Overnight in Montepulciano

    Day 7: Today travel to  the Chianti area. We suggest visitng the villages of Valdorcia. this is a corner of beautiful and untouched Tuscan countryside dotted with picturesque villages. Pienza, a beautiful town known as the “Ideal City” because it is one of the first examples of humanistic ideal urban planning, and Montalcino, a walled medieval town famous for the production of the renowned Brunello wine. Other iconic sights of Val d’Orcia include the Romanesque Abbey of Sant’ Antimo, and the village of San Quirico d’Orcia, whose surroundings are home to the idyllic Vitaleta chapel and the charming hamlet of Bagno Vignoni, whose main square is entirely occupied by a huge thermal bath from ancient Roman times. Overnight in Chianti

    Day 8: Chianti, explore this beautiful region. It is a picture-postcard corner of Tuscany covered in rolling hills punctuated by rows of grapes, olive groves and farms where some of Italy’s most renowned wines are produced. You will embark on a scenic road trip through this stunning wine district, You may stopping at local wineries for a taste of the best local flavors. Then, when the clock strikes suppertime, your can stop at an historic estate, for a traditional lunch surrounded by beautiful views. Overnight in Chianti

    Day 9: 
    Before heading South, we suggest visiting Siena. It is a town rich in artistic jewels and architectural wonders. In Siena you will admire the unique Piazza del Campo that hosts the famous Palio horse race, and stroll around its atmospheric streets filled with Renaissance palaces, art treasures and decorated with the colorful flags representing the different neighborhoods that participate in the Palio.  Overnight on the hills of Roma

    Day 10:
    Today transfer to Rome Fiumicino airport. Return rental vehicle and board for your flight and taking with you treasured memories of your vacation.
