Day 1: Arrival Venice Marco Polo Airport. Retrieve your rental vehicle and start your adventure. Arrive Treviso, check into hotel and relax the rest of your day. Overnight.
Day 2: Today we suggest to visit the city of Treviso and Castello di Roncade. Treviso, a city of waters and art, has a very ancient origins and you can see its history in each frescoed houses, porticoes and ancient mills, monuments, churches and palaces to visit! Start your itinerary from Piazza dei Signori with its famous Palazzo dei Trecento, Palazzo Podestà to then continue to Peschiera, a little island where there is a characteristic fish market and enjoy a pleasant walk near the Canal Cagnan. Rest stop and time to enjoy the typical dessert of the area: the Tiramisù! Continue your with a visit to Castello di Roncade, near the city of Treviso. It is a Venetian villa with over a thousand years of history and you’ll be fascinated by its Medieval architecture, its gardens and the magnificent landscape! Overnight in Treviso
Day 3: After breakfast travel towards Valpolicella. On the way, we suggest to visit the city of Vicenza. Vicenza’s history is quickly noted in every street. It’s history is closely linked to the figure of Andrea Palladio, an architect, who made Vicenza famous for the perfect combination of architecture and urban planning. There are many buildings designed by the great Paduan architect, such as the Palladian Villas. Extraordinary villas built for noble families that were listed in the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996. They are magnificent stately buildings built as residences with adjacent work environments, surrounded by cultivated fields and vineyards, warehouses, stables, depots and areas dedicated to farmers. One of the most famous villas is Villa Almerico Capra, best known as Villa La Rotonda. We suggest not to miss a visit.
Overnight in ValpolicellaDay 4: Today we suggest visiting the city of Verona and explore the small villages of Valpolicella. Tasting the great wine this area is known for. Verona listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, known for the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. While there’s little evidence that this love story actually took place here… there are so many other things to visit. You won’t miss Piazza Erbe, the heart of the city since ancient Roman time, the fortress of Castelvecchio, now the site of the Modern Art Museum; the Scaliger Bridge, an outstanding example of Medieval architecture; and the Scaliger Arches, tombs built for the lords of Verona. On the other bank of the river, you can visit the remains of the Roman Theatre, where currently, performances of Shakespeare or the Verona Jazz Festival are heard. Not far away is the Giardino Giusti, one of the most beautiful Italian gardens of the Renaissance. You can’t complete the exploration of this area without a visit to Valpolicella! It is a territory rich of natural beauties, small villages, monasteries, sanctuaries and ancient villas. It is also known for the production of fine wines, such as Amarone and Ripasso. So end your day with a wine tasting in one of the many wineries of the area! Overnight in Valpolicella
Day 5: Today travel to Trento. En-route we suggest visiting the villages of Lake Garda, the largest Italian lake. Lake Garda is an enchanting place surrounded by castles, villages, marinas and small villages. Among the many palaces with scenic gardens, the majestic Vittoriale deserves a visit, the home of Gabriele d’Annunzio which is located in Gardone Riviera, a town rich in liberty architecture, where the André Heller Botanical Garden also stands, with over 2000 varieties of plants. Day 6: Before leaving Trento, explore this beautiful region. Trento and Trentino are perfect for each season, skiing in winter, hiking in spring. Trento is a perfect starting point. Visit Piazza Duomo and admire the Cathedral, the Torre Civica, Palazzo Petrorio and the beautiful Renaissance frescoes of the Cazuffi Rella houses. Don’t miss the Buonconsiglio Castle. For centuries the seat of the bishop princes of Trento, today it houses numerous art and archeology collections and temporary exhibitions. Overnight in Bassano
Day 7: Discover the heart of Veneto region and the charming villages of Bassano, Marostica, Castelfranco. These small villages are all walled cities where history and art shines and exclusive tradition still survives. Bassano sits on the banks of the river Brenta and it is famous for its namesake spirit, grappa – a distillation made from the discarded wine pulp. There is lots to enjoy in this lovely Veneto town with its Palladian architecture and ancient historic core. Continue your exploration with a visit to Castelfranco, a small village known for giving birth to a famous painter, Overnight Treviso.
Day 8: After breakfast return your rental vehicle to Venice airport. If time allows add a one or two day extension and visit Venice.
