Discover the true beauty and heritage of Sicily in this 7-day self drive vacation.  We have chosen this route as it allows you to explore this magnificent island at your pace.  Start in Palermo Sicily’s capital, rich in heritage and a blend of distant cultures.  Drive  through rolling countryside, landscapes sweeping down to pretty seaside towns.  Stunning archeological site Unesco World Heritage, Valley of the Temples and Agrigento.  Explore Taormina, a fascinating town which overlooks two sweeping bays. This tour encompasses all: Cultural treasures, delicious cuisine, Europe’s largest volcano Mt. Etna, ancient ruins and sparkling beaches.  An experiences that will give you an authentic taste of Sicily.

    Day 1: Arrival Palermo, pick up your rental vehicle and transfer to your hotel. Arrive hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening. Overnight.

    Day 2: Palermo, Breakfast at the hotel. Start your day with Palermo sightseeing Hop on Hop off Tour.  Visit the Palatine Chapel inside the Palazzo dei Normanni.  The construction of the Chapel was carried out by Greek, Norman and Arab artisans in order to represent all the Sicilian religions of the time. It is lined with monumental gold background mosaics with religious images that interspersed naturalistic elements.  Visit the Cathedral of Palermo, characterized by various architectural styles. It was an early Christian basilica, a mosque during Muslim rule. Continue through some of the most important squares and streets of Palermo: the Pretoria Square, Quattro Canti, the Plaza Marina and the Massimo Theater, stands in third place within the largest theaters in Europe.  In the Afternoon 8 km drive you will reach the town of Monreale . Visit the Norman Cathedral, one of the greatest achievements of Norman art in the world, Known for the impressive golden mosaics that cover its interior and the Benedictine cloister. Return to Palermo Overnight

    Day 3:  After breakfast depart for Erice & Agrigento. Erice a  medieval city with views of the tyrannical coast, its islands and salt flats. Visit on your own.  We suggest visiting the cathedral and taking a walk through the streets of the city that lead to the Castle. Departure to Agrigento and visit the archaeological site of Agrigento, the Valley of the Temples. Here you may wish to request service of a private guide.  You sill see imposing Doric-style temples, built with tufa, a calcareous rock that, at sunset, intensifies its particular golden color. The temples are extraordinarily well preserved and the entire archaeological zone (which also includes the remains of the Acropolis).  The three main Doric temples sit atop a rocky hill, with the distant sea in the background. Huge and twisted olive trees surround them, some may also date from the 5th century BC. C. The Temple of Concord is the best preserved, due to it being converted  into a church in the sixth century, its maintenance was prolonged. Overnight Agrigento

    Day 4: After breakfast, departure to Piazza Armerina. Visit on your own,  the Imperial Roman Villa del Casale with 3500 square meters of mosaics and declared a World Heritage Site. It is a complex of buildings that constitute the most important archaeological discovery of Roman Sicily. Continue to Taormina and arrive at the hotel. Overnight.

    Day 5:  Breakfast at the hotel.  Taormina is undoubtedly one of the Sicilian jewels. The cradle of some of the most important writers of the twentieth century such, and artists such as Greta Garbo, Cary Grant, Dalí, Orson Welles or Rita Hayworth.  It should be noted about the Greek Theater whose importance is evidenced in the subsequent use that the Romans continued and the panoramic view of the Bay of Naxos and Etna in the background that make the Taormina Theater one of the most recurring postcards of our visit to Sicily. Strolling through the streets of Taormina, visit the communal village and it’s garden or the palace of the Dukes of San Stefano, one of the best examples of Norman architecture on the island. You may wish to Join a 1/2 day city tour or private guided tour. Both can be requested. Overnight

    Day 6: Breakfast at the hotel.  Day to enjoy more of Taormina or suggest a visit to Syracuse. You can enjoy your day on your own or request the service of a private guide. Visit the the impressive, solemn, intriguing, Greek theater this is such an evocative place! It keeps evidences of several historic periods, from the prehistoric ages to Late Antiquity and the Byzantine era. The Greek Theatre is one of the biggest in the world, entirely carved into the rock. Then continue to Ortigia. At the entrance of Ortygia island, that is connected to the city by Umbertino bridge, you will be greeted by the aroma every kinds of spices, chilli peppers from Etna, almond cakes, as well as seafood and fresh fish. A small market enlivened by colourful “vanniate”, catchy phrases in Sicilian dialect, shouted to attract customers. Why don’t you buy a rarity?: u strattu, a wonderful natural tomato paste, used for enriching sauces and stews. A nice opportunity to get to know our local products and learn new Sicilian recipes. Visit the Piazza Duomo, one of the most famous squares on the website as it is one of the most beautiful squares in Italy! Surrounded by magnificent baroque palaces it is the core of the civil and religious life of Ortygia, the ancient city of Syracuse, a UNESCO heritage. Take a break, sit down for a drink and enjoy the atmosphere! Back to Taormina. Overnight

    Day 7: Breakfast at the hotel and  depart for Catania airport. Return rental vehicle and arrivederci.
