Description
This fabulous tour will have you visiting the beautiful cities of Chianti, Castellina, Siena, Il Poggio and San Gimignano. You will be treated to a half day city tour of Siena! Your Wine & Cycling adventure will give you the chance to stretch out your legs on a four day biking tour through the scenic landscape of Tuscany's Chianti region. You will learn more about the history of Italy's delightful wines and olive oils of San Gimignano and Brolio. This enjoyable
experience combineing biking, wine and travel through one of the most medievil panoramic regions in the world will give you lasting memories of the land called Chianti. You will want to come back again and again.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Chianti
- Arrive in the Chianti area and check into your 3 star hotel.
- Welcome dinner in a typical restaurant.
Day 2 - Biking/Archeotour Chianti
- After breakfast transfer to Castllina in Chianti and start your cycling tour. You will go to Archeotour to pick up your mountain bike and maps of the area (for the biking tours you will be participating in). Your suggested itinerary will have you taking off from Castellina city centre on the Chiantigiana road bound for Siena.
- Stop at Il Poggio to visit the Etruscan tomb.
- After your visit to the tomb travel to Radda in Chianti, a beautiful village offering spectacular views of the Chianti Hills.
- As you continue on your tour you will go to Monte Calvario to visit another Etruscan tomb. Take some leisure time for lunch and dinner in this amazing location (about 20 km).
- Overnight in hotel.
Day 3 -Discovering Siena
- After your 9:00 am breakfast you will travel to Siena and meet with your English speaking guide for a half day city tour of Siena.
- Lunch in an Enoteca siuated in the city centre.
- After lunch departure for S. Gimignano and wine tasting of the famous white wine of this area, Vernaccia. Dinner at own leisure and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 - Biking in Southern Chianti
- After breakfast depart for Castelnuovo Berardenga to start your tour. Suggested Itinerary:From Castelnuvo take the road for S. Gusme’ and continue on to Castello Di Brolio. Stop at Brolio for a wine tasting. Afterwards, continue on a dirt road for Nebbiano Lucignano and Pianelli. When you reach Pianella take the road back to Castelnuvo Berardenga (about 20 km).
- Lunch and dinner at own leisure. Overnight in hotel.
Day 5 - Wine and Olive Oil Lessons
- After breakfast depart for Castellina to meet with your Sommelier guide. You will experience a fantastic educational wine program as you will learn its history and its production methods. This is followed by a visit to a wine cellar and its vineyard with wine & olive oil tastings.
- In the afternoon you will visit a second wine estate to taste its products.
- Dinner at own leisure and overnight in hotel
Day 6 - Day at Leisure
- After breakfast you will have some leisure time for more exploring or shopping or time to just relax and enjoy the countryside.
- Lunch and dinner at own leisure and overnight in hotel.
Day 7
- After breakfast you will depart with fond memories of this spectacular tour.

- Dinner in restaurant Albergaccio or similar in Chianti area on day of arrival– full course meal – beverages not included.
