Traditional Neapolitan Cuisine




Chef Giuseppe inherited his passion for food from his mother Nonna Rosa, known as a great cook. His passion became his career and brought him to lands as far away as Hamilton Bermuda. Upon his return to Italy, he acquired further experience in restaurants such as “LA SPONDA,” housed in the Sirenuse Hotel in Positano. In 1994, he opened his own restaurant “Antica Osteria Nonna Rosa” in the courtyard of his family’s home in Pietrapiano (Vico Equense). Thanks to his mastery and to the precious help of his mother, who still helps in the kitchen, his “Osteria” is now acknowledged by gastronomic critics as one of the best restaurants in Campania. Last year he opened a new restaurant at “Villa della Porta”, a historical villa in Pietrapiano (Vico Equense). In this elegant Country Inn, settled between the Bay of Naples, with its soft hills offering tranquillity and breathtaking views. Chef Giuseppe will reveal his and Nonna Rosa’s secrets of “ Cucina Tradizionale” – Traditional Neaplolitan Cuisine.





Itinerary


Day 1
  • Arrival: Naples Airport or Rail Station and transfer to your hotel Villa Della Porta.
  • Welcome cocktail and time to relax and explore this beautiful villa and surroundings. Villa dates back to the 1600’s.
  • Before dinner, you will meet the warm and friendly staff of the Villa and be given a brief overview of the program, followed by a welcome dinner.


Day 2
  • After breakfast at 10:30 am, you will participate in your first hands on cooking experience learning the secrets of Mediterranean Cuisine.
  • Your culinary efforts will be enjoyed at lunch.
  • After lunch, transfer to Sorrento where you will have time to explore and stroll through the narrow streets of this Mediterranean city of oranges.
  • Dinner in a lively Neapolitan pizzeria and enjoy the original Pizza Napolitana.
  • After dinner explore the vibrancy of Sorrento in a Local Nightclub with a Tarantella show or a Neapolitan Concert.


Day 3
  • After an early breakfast, excursion to Pompeii accompanied by a Local Representative for a guided visit of this large archaeological site.
  • Return to the villa for an inviting buffet lunch offering local specialties.
  • After lunch a short excursion to a producer of mozzarella cheese where you will have a tasting of Buffala Mozzarella. This is the region for the Buffala Mozzarella – and an unexpected delicacy awaits you.
  • Return to Villa for your second cooking class, followed by dinner with the specialties you prepared.


Day 4
  • After an early breakfast 8:30 departure for a full day in magical Capri. (a picnic lunch will be prepared by the staff of the Villa). Transfer to/from the port Ferry to/from Capri).
  • Full day to explore Capri on your own.
  • Return to Sorrento, evening at leisure, dinner on your own and return to Villa.


Day 5
  • After Breakfast 9:30 am departure for half day tour of the Amalfi Coast. Rocky cliffs, winding roads, with sun drenched terraces suspended, over vineyards, orange and lemon groves, cascading down to sparkling, clear blue sea is what awaits you.
  • Return to Vico Equense for a light lunch at Nonna Rosa’s. This delightful restaurant, not only does it treat the palate but also is a feast for the eyes offering a combination of good food warmth and Neapolitan hospitality and if we are fortunate we may have the opportunity to meet Nona Rosa and chat with her..
  • After lunch we continue on through the streets of Vico Equense and visit famous Garbielle’s Lemoncello factory with a demonstration on how this delicious Lemon Liquor is made (best when served chilled) with tasting + ice-cream and some of Gabriele’s wonderful cakes.
  • Return to the Villa and at 20:00 visit the villa’s wine cellar and discover it’s history and secrets. Followed by wine tasting with it’s expert sommelier of wines from this region and an excellent dinner.


Day 6
  • Breakfast and a leisurely day to explore the near by villages, and surrounding countryside. Or relax on the magnificent terraces of the villa and take in the magnificent view of the Bay of Naples.
  • Mid afternoon, fourth final cooking lesson followed by a wonderful Gala dinner. The villa’s staff tells us that a surprise awaits you during your dinner.

Day 7
  • After breakfast, time to say good bye and transfer to the Naples airport or railway station, for your onward journey. Buon Viaggio!
